Our family doesn't just have a birthday, it is a weekend event. Jim's birthday is tomorrow but we started the celebration today.
The girls helped me bake a cake for Jim's birthday. They did a great job decorating it with Scooby Doo faces. Katie cannot wait to have a piece of cake.
We were supposed to meet Jim's brother and his family at Penn Brewery. Our niece has an ear infection and wasn't up for the trip. We went with the girls and ate a delicious German dinner while listening to fun German music.
On a different note, Katie has a visitor from school staying with us this weekend: Spot, the polka dot turtle. We get to take him on our adventures this weekend and write about it for her school class. Spot didn't go with us to the Oktoberfest because we didn't want to get food on him or lose him. We are planning on taking Spot with us tomorrow to the Penguins' hockey practice.
