I got the results of Katie's blood work last week from her development pediatrician. He said her TsH levels were borderline high this would be hypothyroidism. He wants to recheck this in October at her follow up. He also said her zinc and calcium are low. He wants Katie on supplements for this. He said there could be a cause for her calcium being low, she isn't absorbing milk products. I am supposed to cut back on her milk intake. He also wants Katie's fish oil to be increased to 1/2 tsp a day and a full tablet of her multivitamin. Since she has the same MTHFR mutation, she needs to have extra folic acid. I ordered the zinc and calcium from Kirkman Labs. This is the same place I order my folic acid, her multivitamins, zinc sulfate cream, and Arctic Cod Liver Fish Oil in orange flavor.
I have to admit it seems so overwhelming at times but this doctor has been on the ball about so many things. He looked at my family history with blood clotting, pernicious anemia and my miscarriage history. He asked if I was ever tested for MTHFR and if I did have it, Katie needs to be tested. He also discovered a problem with Katie's breathing when she was 8 months old and wanted her seen by a cardiologist ASAP! It turned out she was in congestive heart failure.
The only thing I wouldn't do that he suggested when Katie was 18 months old, using growth hormone therapy. I see horrible things resulting from the GHT. I think Katie will always be petite. Felicity is small too. We must grow them small!
