What a Week!

I am pretty relieved this week has come to an end. It was a pretty hard week on me and the family.

Thursday was a pretty crazy day. Hubby missed his bus and we had to drive him to his training. We ran into prostesters who were carrying signs showing aborted babies. Hubby overted Katie's eyes while I drove by them. The emotion overcame as I began to cry. I thought of our fourth loss and how my husband saw our baby after the D&C was performed. I was able to regain my composure, drop off hubby at his meeting, and take the girls to a wonderful play date. It really helped me focus on my girls and having a good time.

When we picked up hubby from the park and ride bus stop, we were rear ended while sitting at a stop sign. We were all fine and no damage was done to the car but geez isn't being rear ended 3 times in one year a bit much????

Katie ended up receiving 2nd degree burns on her middle finger when she touched the stove yesterday. I had Felicity with me and we were saying goodbye to my parents. I heard Katie screaming and saw her with tears streaming down her face as she was holding her hand. I was boiling water for macaroni and cheese. As soon as Felicity heard Katie cry, she was crying also. I was holding both girls, trying to look up what I should do for a burn. Felicity was trying to hold Katie's hand which caused her to scream more. I was able to put her hand in a bowl of cool water. She had a blister on her finger with no blackness or peeling skin. We gave her Tylenol and she fell asleep. Today she said her finger didn't hurt anymore and she felt like going to her cousin's birthday party.

Yesterday I had a follow up mammogram and ultrasound for the lump I found in December. The doctor who read the tests feels I had an enlarged blood vessel because the mammogram and ultrasound were both clear. I honestly thought the mammogram was going to be extremely painful but it wasn't bad at all.

Today I witnessed a chilling accident on the way to a birthday party. I thought tarp was blowing off the median but it was a SUV flipping in the air over the median. I was traveling south while the accident was on the northbound lanes. I pulled over and called 911. I wish I could have done more for the 10 cars of people on the side of the road but I couldn't get over. I just said a prayer that no one was seriously hurt.

So now I think about the week and how really things that were bad, could have been a lot worse. Katie's burn accident could have been more serious or fatal. The mammogram could have detected a mass leading to a biopsy. I keep trying to remind myself that glass is half full and life is what you make it.
